Financial Controller:

Are you a financial expert looking to make an impact? We're on the hunt for a driven and experienced Financial Controller to join a team. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee all aspects of our accounting functions, manage day-to-day operations, and collaborate with leadership to drive financial success. Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and provide guidance to the accounting department, including overseeing AP/AR, payroll, and bookkeeping tasks.
  • Manage in-house payroll and handle full-cycle accounting on a daily basis.
  • Ensure accurate remittance for payroll, and other applicable taxes when required.
  • Oversee the management of working capital and cash flow, adjusting for dynamic changes in the business.
  • Prepare, review, and approve GST returns and other necessary remittances.
  • Administer employee benefit plans
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports, including cash flow, balance sheets, income statements, and comparative analyses.
  • Prepare year-end working papers and work closely with external accountants to assist with audits.
  • Design and implement internal controls, systems, and procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with management to address accounting and administrative issues, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Maintain existing relationships with external financial institutions and banking partners.
  • Handle administrative duties, such as assisting with customer payments, answering phone inquiries, and resolving AP/AR issues.

Requirements:

  • CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA program, with 4-6 years of experience in an SME environment in Canada.
  • Proficient in accounting software, with preference for SAGE 300 ERP or Sage ACCPAC.
  • Experience dealing with the CRA and other related authorities.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and utilize resources efficiently.
  • Intermediate knowledge of payroll functions.
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Quick to adapt to new ERP systems (experience with Acumatica is a plus)
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • In-depth understanding of the Canadian taxation system.
