A market leader in the building materials industry is looking for a Shipping Manager in the GTA.Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the position is responsible for leading and training the shipping department for the division to ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location in shape and on time.

Responsibilities:

Work as a part of an established organization structure within which all employees provide individually and collectively defined services;

Overseeing affiliated shipping and receiving divisions;

Negotiating transportation rates and services;

Analyzing metrics and creating reports;

Hiring and training shipping personnel;

Create and implement shipping policies and procedures;

Create procedures for shipping and logistics activities;

Plan and implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements;

Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs;

Manage stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs;

Maintain reports, process documentation, customer services logs, training data, and safety records as required;

Ensure carrier compliance with Company policies;

Identify shipping problems for corrective action and ensuring actions are properly carried out;

Administer performance assessment programs for shipping staff and ensure that all complaints of employees are addressed in a timely manner;

Work within established protocols and procedures by which all Company work undertaken is conducted;

Ensure all shipping employees and shipping companies whose work requires access to the plant comply strictly with Company safety requirements;

Display a broad understanding of all projects, particularly lead times and milestones;

Attend project meetings as requested; and

Any other tasks that may be required to ensure projects undertaken by the company are delivered on time, on budget, and on quality.

Requirements:

Supply Chain Management, Construction Management or APICS Certification is preferred;

Forklift license is an asset.

6+ years of experience in a shipping/logistics management role.

Experience inwarehouse, manufacturing environment;

Promote Health and Safety in the workplace;

Work environment requires wearing PPE;

Work overtime as required; and

G license is required.

High level of social interaction. Work with other production staff on all shifts, truck drivers, supervisors, Field Managers, installers and Forklift Operators;

Knowledge of industry safety practices;

Analytical thinking;

Proficiency in basic business mathematics;

Organizational and time management skills;

Technical knowledge of machines/tools used in shipping process;

Ability to motivate and manage employees;

Ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
