Nature & Scope → Your Role at Roots
Reporting to the Manager – Business Analysis, the IT Business Analyst will work closely with internal IT and business stakeholders as well as third-party vendors to define and document detailed requirements and deliver key IT initiatives with the organization. The successful candidate will support a culture rooted in innovation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact
- Collaborate as part of a project team to elicit and document detailed business requirements, working closely with IT and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on proposed solutions.
- Partner with the project team throughout the project delivery lifecycle to ensure all project goals and objectives are met through the planning, analysis, development, and testing phases
- Lead the execution of smaller IT projects and define stakeholder roles, responsibilities, develop, and manage the project plan
- Provide recommendations to users on appropriate solutions along with guidance concerning the business implications on the impacted applications/processes
- Lead process improvement efforts to enhance business performance and assist in evaluating new technologies that will enable continued business success
- Ensure system and business requirements are met by monitoring implementation, responding to issues and gaps in requirements, and collecting feedback for retrospective
- Bridge the gap between both business and IT teams ensuring common understanding and alignment of both functional and non-functional requirements
- Execute and support various levels of application testing
- Update and implement operational procedures through projects or support to ensure smooth operation and acceptable performance
- Second-level support troubleshooting and investigating escalated application issues with the goal of facilitating permanent resolutions
Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring
- Post-secondary education, preferably in business or applied computer science
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience as an IT Business Analyst
- Experience with Ecom, Retail, Wholesale, EDI, and/or Finance applications is an asset
- Excellent computer-related and developmental skills with the ability to learn new software and middleware processes
- Possesses a solid understanding of IT infrastructure and software development lifecycles (SDLC)
- Brings strong analytical skills complemented by a customer-focused approach and excellent service orientation
- Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries at an intermediate level
