Position Summary

As a member of the education team, the Education Facilitator will have the opportunity to facilitate education sessions across a variety of programs including the Sam Centre Education Field Trips, OH Ranch Education, Journey 2050, and Stampede School, depending on experience, educational background and program need. The position offers the opportunity to be part of a one-of-a-kind organization developing strong youth that will build stronger communities.

Reporting to the Manager, Youth Education Programs, the Education Facilitator is a member of the Calgary Stampede Youth Achievement Team. The Education Facilitator is responsible for the delivery of the programs, making each experience interactive, relatable, and impactful.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Facilitation

  • Deliver interdisciplinary educational programming
  • Create an engaging and interactive learning environment, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful connections, preparing youth as spirited citizens
  • Developing and improving the methods and presentation styles to make content come to life and guide participant’s exploration
  • Engage all participants including students, teachers, and parent volunteers
  • Ensure safety and well-being of students, teachers, parent volunteers and presenters

Administration and Program Support

  • Support the team’s administrative needs, including data entry and organization, upkeeping reporting metrics in spreadsheets, and drafting communications as needed
  • Assist education coordinators in planning for conferences and conventions, organization and purchase of program materials, and communication with teachers
  • Assist coordinators with presentations at conferences and conventions
  • Innovative program and curriculum design, developing educational strategies to enrich student learning, engagement, long term impact, and community connection

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of related experience in education or community-based learning environments
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, with a high level of comfort when speaking to students, educators, and volunteers.
  • Experience, knowledge, and comfort with online platforms and virtual program delivery, proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Apple products, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Bachelor of Education, or related experience with youth programming
  • Solid understanding of the Alberta Education curriculum
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
  • Background and passion for Alberta history, agriculture and sustainability considered an asset

Working Conditions

  • Office, classroom and outdoor environments may range from a traditional classroom to the broader Stampede Park to the trails of the OH Ranch depending on interest and schedule.
  • Repetitive arm, hand and finger movements, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs., squatting, bending and reaching, stair climbing, sitting for long periods of time, exposure to dust, fumes and animal dander.
