The Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvements Project is a significant undertaking by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to expand and modernize Bloor-Yonge station – Canada’s busiest subway hub. This initiative is focused on meeting both current and future ridership needs by improving the station’s efficiency, capacity, and accessibility. The Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV) is committed to transforming the station to enable faster, more reliable, and more comfortable travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Paid Time Off We currently have an opening in Toronto, ON for a: Site Superintendent The Site Superintendent will provide day-to-day leadership of site operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of assigned construction activities. Working closely with project management, engineering, safety, quality, subcontractors, and TTC stakeholders, the successful candidate will coordinate field resources, resolve site issues, and maintain progress in a complex, high-profile transit environment. How will you contribute to the team? To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following: Lead and coordinate daily site activities, including workforce planning, subcontractor operations, equipment, materials, access, and site logistics.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work is completed in accordance with project procedures, applicable legislation, approved work plans, and safe work practices.
Review drawings, specifications, methods, schedules, and work packages to confirm field readiness and identify constructability concerns before work begins.
Plan and sequence construction activities to meet project milestones while minimizing disruptions to station operations, nearby businesses, pedestrians, transit users, and the surrounding community.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, quality personnel, safety representatives, utility owners, authorities, and TTC stakeholders to support timely field execution.
Supervise subcontractors and trades, monitor productivity and workmanship, and address performance, resource, and coordination issues promptly.
Ensure inspections, testing, deficiency management, and documentation are completed in accordance with the project quality plan and contract requirements.
Monitor progress against short-term and master schedules, identify emerging delays or constraints, and implement practical recovery or mitigation measures.
Maintain accurate daily reports, site records, labour and equipment information, delivery logs, photographs, and other required field documentation.
Lead daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and shift handovers to ensure clear communication of priorities, risks, and responsibilities.
Proactively identify site conflicts, unforeseen conditions, and operational risks, escalating issues with recommended solutions to project leadership.
Support commissioning, turnover, closeout, and deficiency correction activities for assigned areas of work.
Mentor field staff and foster a collaborative, respectful, and accountable team environment. Education and Experience:
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and field experience.
Minimum 8 years of progressive construction experience, including experience supervising crews and subcontractors on complex heavy civil, infrastructure, rail, or transit projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction interfaces.
Experience working in constrained, operational, or public-facing environments is strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of Ontario health and safety requirements, quality control processes, construction documentation, and site coordination practices.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, work plans, and contract requirements.
Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency with standard construction technology and digital field-management tools. Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms is an asset.
Gold Seal certification, relevant trade certification, or designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist is an asset.
Availability to work site-based hours, including occasional evenings, nights, weekends, or shift work, as project requirements evolve. Salary Range: Between $150,000 to $175,000 depending on experience. Think you're the right fit?
