Job Description Our client is looking for an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Team Leader who oversees PCB assembly production lines, managing operators to meet efficiency and quality targets. Key responsibilities include operating, programming, and troubleshooting SMT machines (pick-and-place, printers, ovens, AOI), ensuring IPC standard compliance, and mentoring staff to boost performance. Location-Orbitor & Matheson (Near the Toronto Pearson Airport) Salary Range- $44K-$48K Duration-Full time permanent Shift-Monday to Friday Days Core Responsibilities and Duties Production Management: Organize daily production schedules, assign tasks to operators, and ensure targets (volume/efficiency) are met.
Machine Operation/Setup: Set up, program, and operate SMT equipment, including Screen Printers, Pick-and-Place machines, Reflow Ovens, and AOI systems.
Quality Control: Monitor production for adherence to IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 standards, troubleshoot defects, and perform, or supervise, maintenance of machines.
Team Leadership: Lead daily team briefings, coach operators, provide training, and ensure compliance with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and health and safety requirements.
Process Improvement: Identify areas to improve efficiency, reduce, throw-away material, and support NPI (New Product Introduction) builds. Required Skills and Qualifications Experience: Several years of experience in SMT line operation and assembly, with previous supervisory or lead experience.
Strong Senior Level experience doing SMT Process Engineering
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of PCB assembly processes, electronic components, and proficiency in troubleshooting SMT machinery.
Systems Knowledge: Experience with AOI, SPI, and X-Ray inspection systems.
Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead a team, strong communication skills, and proactive problem-solving.
Education: Academic qualification as an Electronics or Industrial Technician/Engineer is often preferred. Typical Physical/Working Conditions Often involves working in a manufacturing environment with rotating shifts (e.g.,).
Responsible for ensuring high standards of housekeeping and safety in the department. Candidate must have experience working directly with engineers on problem solving, ordering stencils from engineering files.
