Facilities Inspection Engineer

As the Facilities Inspection Engineer, you will be responsible for in-house condition assessments and life cycle plan preparations of small-scale buildings, assisting with a specialized assessment program to inspect structural and envelope components and review of data management system for Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets. You will also conduct visual assessments of Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets structures on a biennial basis as required by the Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets Policy. You will manage the engineering inspection program by hiring and managing third party engineering firms and acting as a first point of contact to triage the inspection requirements between the City's various interest holders, determining who would be best to consult and help. In addition, you will be expected to support activities related to the Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets program such as managing recording closures and updating the Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets website. Primary duties include:

• Conduct visual inspections of structural and other building components, applying an engineering skillset and knowledge to assess the condition.
• Manage external professional engineering consultants and contractors to assist with inspections.
• Conduct in-house condition assessments and life cycle plan preparation of small-scale buildings and assist with biennial visual inspections of Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets structures.
• Assist in the review of current data management systems and processes and explore alternate data management systems for the Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets program.
• Transfer available data into Plus 15 structures or athletic parks assets data management system.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work. • Experience in structural engineering, building envelope or condition assessment of buildings will be considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal skills as well as an ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences will be considered an asset.
• Success in this position requires skills in collaboration, initiative, and the ability to maintain details for multiple projects and competing priorities.

Workstyle

• This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
