As a Transit Operations Centre (TOC) Supervisor, you will provide leadership to a team of up to 22 on-site employees including Public Safety Representatives (PS100), Light Rail Transit (LRT) Controllers, Bus Controllers and Call Centre staff. You will also be responsible for mentoring, coaching and supporting approximately 100 staff members from Bus and Rail Control, PS100 and the Call Centre. Primary duties include:
- Manage and complete TOC activity reports, key performance indicator reports and real-time messaging across digital platforms during special events, emergency events and severe weather.
- Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) during/after incidents to support coordination between all TOC working groups, internal and external agencies.
- Provide guidance and recommendations for service delivery options during unplanned incidents and activate emergency protocols as needed including the Tactical Operation Centre.
- Coordinate incident management across all TOC working groups to ensure the safety of employees and customers by applying Calgary Transit's (CT) emergency procedures. Ensure all incident notifications and service recovery updates are communicated.
- Provide support for personnel during safety critical incidents and coordinate with Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP) trauma services and Peer Support following critical incidents.
- Supervise employee performance, lead informal coaching conversations, mentor staff, manage attendance concerns, workplace issues and conflict.
- Manage shift records to ensure part-time hours are distributed evenly and prepare all timesheets.
- Develop training materials and resources for specialized training.
- Research and provide information for investigations on the TOC team and in other areas of CT.
- Liaise with internal and external partners to support video evidence retrieval and incident documentation.
- Monitor and review computer-aided dispatch (CAD) events to verify that all relevant details are captured, updated in real time and maintained to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Direct and support staff in the use of Hexagon 911 CAD system and Traffic Studio CAD ensuring accurate documentation and following established procedures and processes.
- Provide guidance on system-related tasks and troubleshooting and collaborate with others to resolve system and operational concerns.
- Develop and revise procedures and policies to ensure safety of systems for employees and customers.
- Monitor weather forecasts to determine when to activate a Severe Weather Plan.
- Represent TOC on new projects, initiatives and application platforms.
Qualifications
- A completed 1-year certificate in Business Administration, Human Resources, Emergency Management, Information Technology or a related field and at least 5 years of transit related experience; OR
- A completed 2-year diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, Emergency Management, Information Technology or a related field and at least 3 years of transit related experience.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience within the Transit Operations Centre is an asset.
- Intermediate knowledge of computers and software in programs such as CAD and Microsoft Office Suite are considered assets.
- A strong working knowledge of Calgary Transit.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and team concept skills to guide, coach, and mentor staff.
- Success in this position requires effective communication skills along with highly developed problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Superior multi-tasking skills are also required.

- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works various shifts in a 24/7 environment and must be available to work day, afternoon, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, including statutory holidays.
