The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. Now, if you were to come on board as our Payroll Clerk, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Payroll Administration
    • Process payroll-related employee transactions including:
      • Salary and labour transfers
      • Wage and rate increases
      • Layoffs and terminations
    • Process new hires in UKG.
    • Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs).
    • Calculate and process retroactive pay adjustments, vacation payouts, and other payroll-related payments.
    • Maintain and update employee payroll information within payroll systems to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
    • Review and respond to payroll inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
    • Provide payroll support to field operations and various corporate departments.
  • Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, regulations, and company policies.
    • Complete Employment Insurance (EI) audits, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requests, legal requests, and other payroll compliance requirements.
    • Conduct payroll-related research and prepare reports as needed.
    • Assist with payroll reconciliations and audits to support accuracy and compliance.
  • Administrative Support
    • Prepare and distribute payroll correspondence, reports, emails, and other documentation.
    • Maintain confidential payroll files and records in accordance with company policies and privacy requirements.
    • Answer and direct telephone calls related to payroll matters.
    • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including electronic communications.
    • Perform general administrative duties to support Payroll operations.

  • Successful completion of Level 1 of the National Payroll Institute (formerly CPA) Payroll Compliance Practitioner Program or equivalent payroll certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a computerized payroll environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience processing payroll in a high-volume environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, Employment Insurance (EI), Record of Employment (ROE) requirements, and CRA regulations.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and HRIS systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to calculate rates, percentages, retroactive adjustments, and payroll reconciliations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and external agencies.
