Join us in shaping a sustainable, climate-resilient future for Edmonton! As a Climate Resilience Planner, you will play a vital role in advancing key environmental strategies and policies across our city. In this role, you will lead complex planning projects, develop strategic policies, and integrate climate mitigation and adaptation actions into urban development. Working under the guidance of the Senior Environmental Engineer, you will help implement foundational strategies like the Energy Transition Strategy, execute key initiatives, and collaborate closely with diverse teams and community partners. What will you do? - Support integration of climate resilience actions into the planning and development continuum, including the zoning bylaw, statutory plans, and public realm strategies - Lead end-to-end project management for strategic climate initiatives, from scoping and procurement to contract execution and deliverable review - Support implementation of key municipal strategies, including Edmonton’s Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan, Community Energy Transition Strategy and Climate Adaptation Strategy - Conduct policy research, analyze data, and prepare clear recommendations, briefing memos, and reports for City Council and senior leadership - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, external consultants, industry groups, and engagement participants to build consensus and advance environmental priorities - Coordinate detailed technical studies to inform evidence-based policy choices - Develop evaluation and monitoring frameworks to track progress on corporate climate targets
