Industrial Policy Planner (Planner I)

Join our team in shaping the future of Edmonton’s urban landscape! We are seeking a dedicated professional to lead key planning initiatives that directly impact our growing community. This temporary position leads a project to prepare amendments to industrial Area Structure Plans in alignment with the Industrial Investment Action Plan. Working closely with internal teams and external collaborators, you will support the creation or amendment of industrial Area Structure Plans. You will also review land development applications to evaluate policy alignment and deliver recommendations. What will you do? - Support changes to industrial Area Structure Plans under the direction of a Principal Industrial Policy Planner - Propose policy and regulatory document updates that advance corporate growth objectives - Maintain project management tracking tools such as charters, Gantt charts, decision logs, and risk registers - Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engagement activities with industrial landowners, industry representatives, and other interested or affected parties - Prepare plan amendment bylaws, council reports, presentations, and plan consolidation documents - Support the creation of new industrial Area Structure Plans, including drafting policy content and maps - Review industrial land development applications (LDAs) for policy alignment and attend pre-application meetings - Formulate clear recommendations to Planning Coordination and Development Services - Collaborate across City departments to understand the impacts and trade-offs of proposed policy changes
