What is the Opportunity? Aecon Civil is a recognized leader in the market, backed by strong self-perform capabilities and deep local expertise. We play a key role in building and enhancing infrastructure across Canada, the U.S., and an expanding international footprint, improving everyday life through the roads, bridges, tunnels, and transit systems that connect communities. With more than a century of experience and a full suite of integrated services, Aecon is a trusted partner for delivering complex civil projects, including tunnels, transit expansions, airports, ports, highways, and large-scale site development. The BIM Modeler will support the technical and project delivery teams by developing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed 3D models for temporary works, construction methodologies, and permanent infrastructure solutions within Aecon’s Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) Common Data Environment (CDE). The role ensures all BIM deliverables are produced accurately, comply with project requirements and BIM standards, and are effectively managed throughout the design and construction lifecycle. Working collaboratively with engineers, designers, and construction teams, the BIM Modeler will contribute to clash detection, model coordination, visualization, and the integration of project information to support efficient project execution and digital delivery initiatives. What You'll Do Here:

  • Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for temporary works (formwork, falsework, shoring, hoarding, access and excavation support) to support the technical team.
  • Develop construction methods, sequencing and site logistics drawings (site setup, crane and equipment locations, laydown areas, access and egress) from engineering markups and sketches.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, sketches and design intent to prepare accurate, coordinated CAD deliverables.
  • Manage drawings and models within Aecon’s IDD Common Data Environment (CDE), following the correct workflows, file naming and status (WIP, Shared, Published) in line with ISO 19650 and project standards.
  • Maintain version control, revision history and clear documentation for all deliverables in the CDE.
  • Coordinate temporary works models with the wider IDD-BIM team and check for clashes against the permanent works.
  • Prepare drawing packages for temporary works design reviews, permits and site issue, incorporating markups and review comments.
  • Support the technical team with quantity take-offs and material information extracted from models.
  • Maintain CAD and BIM standards, templates and content libraries for temporary works and construction methods.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with engineers, project teams and site staff to confirm requirements and resolve queries.
  • Other duties as required.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Post-secondary education in CAD/drafting, civil or structural engineering technology, architectural technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ CAD drafting experience, ideally supporting construction, temporary works, or heavy civil/infrastructure projects.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with Autodesk Revit and Navisworks is an asset.
  • Proficiency in producing complete, permit-/IFC-ready drawing packages (plans, profiles, sections, details) from engineer sketches, markups and design models.
  • Proficiency in extracting and maintaining 2D drawing sets derived from 3D/BIM models (set-out, reinforcement, structural details where applicable).
  • Proficiency in applying and maintaining CAD standards, including layering conventions, symbols, title blocks, linework and cross-reference protocols, for consistent deliverables.
  • Proficiency in performing self-checks/QA on drawings before submission and incorporating review-cycle feedback prior to sign-off.
  • Experience working within a Common Data Environment (CDE) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360/ACC), ProjectWise or similar.
  • Familiarity with temporary works (formwork, falsework, shoring, hoarding, access) and/or construction methods and sequencing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and specifications.
  • Understanding of ISO 19650 information management principles and BIM workflows is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and document-control discipline.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary technical team.
