The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the ability to climb stairs and ladders, as well as sit for extended periods while completing various tasks. Many responsibilities of this role will require flexibility and adaptability in work environments. Additionally, the position demands innovative and well-considered solutions to chemical or process engineering challenges as assigned, leveraging strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Carseland Nitrogen Operations is located approximately 30 minutes outside of Calgary, Alberta.
What You'll Do:- Support the management of change process by assisting with process design and documentation
- Provide process engineering support to complete recommendations from process hazard analysis
- Assist senior specialists in detailed technical evaluations such as catalyst, heat exchanger, and compressor performance
- Provide process engineering support to capital project development and design
- Complete level appropriate engineering studies, calculations, or modeling and simulation of chemical processes
- Provide technical support to automated process monitoring applications
- Collect data and develop an electronic process information database
- Work under the direction of a licensed professional engineer who will take responsibility for the work products
- Complete basic technical reports, analysis, and transactions by applying subject matter knowledge related to a Chemical or Process engineering typical of a professional engineer
- Some field time in an operating unit, and at times will require some climbing of stairs, ladders and walking through plant operating areas
- Engineering co-op student pursuing a degree in chemical engineering, preference is for work terms 4 and 5
- Knowledge in P&ID use and interpretation, piping flow and hydraulic calculations, pressure relief valve codes and standards, control valve design and simple instrumentation and control loop basics is an asset
- Experience working with API Pressure Relief standards is an asset
- Knowledge of pipe sizing and experience with piping design is an asset
