Senior Director of Procurement Engineering Function

Overview

Lead the strategic direction, governance, and operational excellence of Procurement Engineering for one of the world's leading nuclear technology organizations. As Senior Director, Procurement Engineering Function, you will play a critical role in connecting engineering, procurement, supply chain, and supplier organizations to ensure the successful delivery of complex nuclear and conventional projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, shape procurement engineering strategies, and strengthen AtkinsRéalis' position as a world‑class CANDU Reactor OEM.

Your Role

• Define and drive the strategic direction, governance frameworks, standards, and best practices for the Procurement Engineering discipline.
• Lead the development and oversight of technical procurement specifications, supplier‑designed solutions, and engineering validation activities.
• Champion a smart buyer philosophy by balancing technical risk, quality, schedule, lifecycle cost, and fit‑for‑purpose engineering principles.
• Provide leadership to Procurement Engineering managers, directors, and subject matter experts while fostering a high‑performing technical organization.
• Strengthen collaboration between Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, and Project Delivery teams.
• Develop workforce capability through talent management, succession planning, technical training, coaching, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
• Engage with senior executives, strategic suppliers, partners, and stakeholders to support major procurement decisions and project success.

About You

• Proficiency in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams within complex, highly regulated industries.
• Ability to develop and oversee technical specifications, procurement requirements, and supplier design management activities.
• Aptitude for building strong partnerships across engineering, supply chain, procurement, quality, and project delivery functions.
• Ability to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and strategic organizational change.
• Proficiency in technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and engineering governance.
