Overview

Reporting to the Technical Director, C6 Retube Tooling Systems, the Project Engineering Manager would support one of various Refurbishment projects. This leader will be responsible for Retube Tooling individuals and teams executing commercial and internal work packages and projects, in a single discipline or set of closely related disciplines.

Your role
  • Manages the design process and supply of tooling deliverables in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Establishes the technical approach to achieve project requirements by developing and implementing an approved Engineering Plan and ensures engineering deliverables satisfy these requirements.
  • Ensures that all design work is executed effectively and suitable reviews are undertaken to ensure compliance to project requirements in accordance with both statutory requirements and industry requirements in safety and quality.
  • Responsible for approving technical documents and performing supervisory reviews.
  • Interfaces with clients and manufacturing vendors to ensure successful delivery of engineering products in accordance with commercial specifications and design requirements.
  • Removes barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
  • Plans, tracks and executes engineering activities consistent with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of engineering estimates for services to internal and external clients.
  • Oversees cost, timeliness, quality and technical accuracy of the work through regular reviews and evaluations.
  • Provides clear expectations and develops performance measures, provides meaningful feedback, recognizes and rewards achievements, and implements corrective measures to improve performance when warranted.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment and team building culture within Retube Tooling as well as with internal and external interfaces.
  • Mentors and organizes mentoring of staff to maintain and improve staff performance and capabilities.
  • Forecast resource demands for the assigned work scope, including skills, capabilities, and durations considerations and addresses gaps through hiring.
  • Defines and optimizes the structure of the project team for their scope of accountability.
  • As necessary, organizes and directs the development of organizational or project‑specific training courses.
  • Ensures all project training and qualifications records are up‑to‑date, and required training and qualifications are completed and updated on time.

About you
  • University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
  • Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
  • Experience in managing sub consultants and work sharing with other offices within the firm.
  • 8 years of progressive experience in a discipline and field of application relevant to the work being managed, including experience leading technical teams.
  • 8 years of nuclear technology experience including experience leading engineering teams.
  • Three or more years of experience leading engineering teams.
  • Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada.
  • Sound knowledge of multiple engineering fields and of nuclear technologies.
  • Demonstrated business acumen – the ability to think, plan and negotiate strategically with a strong commercial orientation and good understanding of financial measurements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and parallel technical projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
  • Excellent client focus and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet project needs.
