About This Role

We are hiring two profiles under one posting: full-stack product engineers and applied ML engineers. You do not need to be both. Tell us which end of the spectrum you sit closest to and we will shape the process around it. Both profiles share the same team and the same take-home project.

The work sits where the product meets the model: document-processing pipelines, retrieval and reasoning over messy construction drawings and specs, and the web surfaces that turn all of it into something an estimator can act on.

What You Will Do

If you lean full-stack:

• Build and evolve full-stack product surfaces, backend services, and document-processing systems.

• Develop prototypes that prove key product concepts and quantify technical constraints for AI pipelines.

• Improve reliability, performance, and quality across web applications, backend services, and AI-assisted workflows.

If you lean ML:

• Develop and maintain production ML/AI systems for document analysis, retrieval, extraction, and reasoning.

• Build evaluation datasets, metrics, experiments, and error-analysis frameworks.

• Choose among prompting, retrieval, model selection, fine-tuning, and traditional ML techniques.

• Monitor performance, cost, latency, reliability, and regressions.

Either way:

• Write production-grade Python across the application stack.

• Collaborate with product, design, customers, and construction domain experts to turn ambiguous workflows into useful software.

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of software development experience, or 5+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree.

• Strong Python fundamentals with software engineering depth: testing, debugging, APIs, and data systems.

• Full-stack profile: production web application experience, especially with React, Python, and Django.

• ML profile: a track record shipping and operating ML/AI systems with real customers, plus hands-on work with modern language models, multimodal systems, retrieval, and evaluation.

• Practical proficiency with AI coding assistants and LLM-based development workflows. We expect our engineers to be AI-forward in how they build.

• Sound engineering judgment: you use AI to raise throughput without outsourcing taste, validation, security, or maintainability.

• Hybrid in Toronto, in office at least 3 days a week.

• You move quickly, take ownership, and communicate clearly in ambiguous environments.

• You care about users and connect technical choices to customer value.

• You hold a high bar for engineering quality, security, and design.

Compensation

$140K - $200K CAD depending on level and profile, with higher bands for senior ML profiles, plus equity.

Hiring Process

Resume review, a take-home project, a technical interview, and an in-office day with the team. The same take-home is used for both profiles.
