Emergency Sessional Lecturer - HIS311H1S Canada in the World

Course Description:Ranging from the fifteenth through to the turn of the twenty-first century, students will learn about the treaties, trade agreements and alliances, as well as the informal traditions, working relationships and cultural ties that shape relations of people living within the boundaries of present-day Canada with the world. For this course, "international relations" is broadly defined, including military, political, economic, environmental and immigration policies, both official and informal.

Minimum qualifications:

Master of Arts in History or related field required. Mastery of the subject area as related to the course description above required.

Preferred qualifications:

PhD in History preferred. Demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable.

Description of duties:

Developing syllabus; course preparation; lecturing one two-hour classes weekly; in-person lectures; marking; there will be 24 hours of lectures in this course and one office hour per teaching week. Supervision of TA(s) in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement.

Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located.

Sessional Dates of Appointment: January 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027

Estimated Course Enrolment: 100 students

Estimate of TA Support: 147 hours

Schedule: Monday 11:00-13:00
