We are searching for a Dining Room Coordinator to join our Parkland Ancaster team based in Ancaster, Ontario.

About the Opportunity
- Providing leadership in the coordination of dining room staff activities to ensure professional service delivery to residents daily and for special events
- Outlines work assignments
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates the work of the team
- Ensures new team members are orientated and trained on all departmental standards
- Assists with resource management, such as recruitment, orientation, training, and coaching
- Performing all duties of the Server position
- Supporting the development of a quality culture by having a continuous quality improvement philosophy
- Assisting in the provision of catering services for internal and external events and special functions
- Coordinates all meal/beverage charges and proper billing
- Organizes and maintains the process for client menus, diet slips and count sheets.
- Assists with inventory counts monthly
- Assists in the process to track and submit records of resident additional food services charges when required
- Inspects the dining room, serveries and stewarding area to ensure all assigned duties from the previous day have been completed
- Ensure procedures are followed when alcohol is served if applicable
- Working with the food services team to promote communication and compliance to policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with residents and their families to determine individual needs, resolve issues or concerns, and evaluate resident satisfaction
- Maintaining safety and sanitation in the dining areas to meet legislative / organizational standards
- Performs all other duties as assigned/required
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- A high-school diploma or GED
- Proof of Basic Food Safety Training or Food Handler's certificate is required
- Proof of valid Smart Serve Certification is required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in the food & beverage service industry
- Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment
- Previous supervisory experience in hospitality or health care foodservice
- Experience in preparation of work schedules considered an asset
- Experience using POS software and other essential computer programs considered an asset
- Previous experience working with the elderly in long-term care or a seniors independent living environment an asset
- Extensive knowledge of food safety practices
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation and quality standards
- Knowledge of meal service and etiquette standards
- Ability to effectively supervise others
- Ability to understand resource allocation (including staffing, supplies)
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care
