What is the role?
This is a tremendous opportunity to reinvent architecture in the AI Age. As a Staff AI Architect/Engineer, you will build AI-powered solutions to aid our AI Architecture practices, governance and AI initiatives across the bank. You will contribute to AI standards and patterns to align with the rapidly evolving AI platforms. You will collaborate with RBC's engineering teams to ensure solutions are well-designed, reusable across business lines and aligned to our technology strategy. You will partner with lines of business to understand their needs and help architect working AI solutions that create real value. You will help drive specific POCs for AI technology, working with vendors and engineering partners.
What will you do?
Partners closely with engineering and business teams to design and deliver scalable, secure and maintainable AI systems. Ensures solutions are built on the right platforms and patterns, are fit for purpose, and can be practically implemented and maintained in production. Ensuring reusability of capabilities will be a key focus.
Translate business and technical problems into implementable solution designs, then contribute hands-on development to help bring those designs to life.
Help establish an Architecture mindset by partnering with AI engineering teams, to capture and review their designs, providing architectural guidance and opinions. Research technologies and work with vendors/partners to evaluate.
Collaborate with RBC's engineering teams to ensure solutions are well-designed and aligned to our AI technology strategy. Partners with lines of business to understand their needs and deliver working AI solutions that create real value.
Contribute to AI standards and patterns to help make the rapidly evolving AI platforms easily consumable and well governed.
Build tools, Agents and MCPs to support and automate our architecture practice. Drive an 'as code' mindset.
What do you need to succeed?

You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do next. You see opportunities, ask questions, challenge assumptions, and take ownership. You have the ability to cut through complexity, get to the root of a problem and drive solutions forward.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys experimentation, rapid prototyping, and learning through execution. You aren't afraid to test new ideas, iterate quickly, and continuously improve. You understand that innovation rarely starts perfect- it starts with a strong idea, thoughtful execution and a willingness to learn.
We need a strong hands on Python coder, this is not a role for someone who wants to stay at the whiteboard.
You have a strong grasp of modern AI technologies and frameworks, stay current with a rapidly evolving landscape, and enjoy getting hands-on with emerging tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, and other AI orchestration frameworks to rapidly prototype evaluate, and deliver innovative solutions.
