Course Number and Title: WGS397H1F - Politics of Girlhood

Course Description: The course communicates the growing field of "girl studies" and provides a critical exploration of the historical, social, psychological and political definitions attached to girlhood. We will move toward a feminist understanding of how definitions of girl-child shape individual experience, historical narratives, cultural representations, political agendas and futures.

Enrolment Estimate: 100 students

Estimated TA Support: 180 hours

Class Schedule: Wednesday 13:00-15:00

The delivery method for this course is currently 100% in person. In keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty of Arts and Science or the Women and Gender Studies Institute.

Salary:

$9,997.48.70 (Sessional Lecturer I);

$10,699.22 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term);

$10,699.22 (Sessional Lecturer II);

$10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer II Long Term);

$10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer III)

$11,228.90 (Sessional Lecturer III Long Term);

includes vacation pay

Minimum Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in areas related to the specific course required.
Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in psychoanalysis.

Description of Duties:

• Preparing the syllabus, reading list and lecture materials

• Delivering lectures

• Developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests and final assessments

• Holding regular office hours

• Communicating with students via email and Quercus

• Managing TAs and/or graders if applicable
