Description & Requirements

who we are

lululemon is an innovative performance apparel company for yoga, running, training, and other athletic pursuits. Setting the bar in technical fabrics and functional design, we create transformational products and experiences that support people in moving, growing, connecting, and being well. We owe our success to our innovative product, emphasis on stores, commitment to our people, and the incredible connections we make in every community we're in. As a company, we focus on creating positive change to build a healthier, thriving future. In particular, that includes creating an equitable, inclusive and growth-focused environment for our people.

About this team

We are trusted partners embedded across the business, helping teams bring bold ideas and distinctive guest experiences to life. Within Brand and Community, we partner closely with Collaborations, Brand, Design, Merchandising, Sourcing and other cross-functional teams to enable innovative partnerships while protecting lululemon's brand, intellectual property and long-term relationships.

The opportunity

This is a pivotal role for an experienced lawyer who will lead legal support for lululemon's global collaborations program, with a North America focus. You will advise on the full collaboration lifecycle—from structuring and negotiating complex partnerships through launch, compliance and ongoing relationship management—while developing scalable processes that allow the business to move quickly and responsibly. In addition to the collaborations program, you will provide legal advice and draft agreements on a range of marketing, sponsorship, social media, content production, loyalty programs and other matters supporting the Brand and Community Team.

Success will come from being curious, passionate and becoming a trusted advisor to the Collaborations team and Brand cross-functional partners, bringing strong commercial judgment, deep collaboration and licensing expertise, and a practical approach to navigating legal and reputational risk.

What you'll do

Strategic Impact

  • Be the trusted legal advisor for lululemon's collaborations program, providing strategic, practical guidance across complex and high-value global brand partnerships.
  • Partner closely with Collaborations, Brand, Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, Finance, InfoSec and other teams to structure partnerships that achieve business objectives while protecting lululemon's brand and interests.
  • Advise across the collaboration lifecycle, including partnership structure, intellectual property, licensing, co-branding, marketing, supply chain, tax, consumer protection, privacy, confidentiality and trade-secret considerations.
  • Anticipate legal and commercial risks, develop pragmatic mitigation strategies, and enable teams to make informed decisions at speed.
  • Build deep knowledge of lululemon's business, products and operating model, as well as the entertainment, apparel, retail and collaboration landscape.

Operational Excellence

  • Draft, negotiate and manage sophisticated collaboration agreements, including brand partnership, licensing, co-branding and influencer agreements, with a focus on complex and high-value arrangements.
  • Lead legal clearances and approvals for collaborations and help ensure contractual commitments are understood and operationalized across the business.
  • Develop and scale policies, playbooks, templates and processes that improve speed, consistency and compliance throughout the collaboration lifecycle.
  • Advise on applicable advertising and marketing requirements, consumer protection, data privacy and other regulatory considerations relevant to apparel, retail and entertainment collaborations.
  • Support the protection of confidential information, trade secrets and intellectual property shared with external partners.
  • Build strong partner relationships and serve as a connection point across cross-functional teams and the broader legal team, helping resolve issues before they impact launches or relationships.

Qualifications

  • J.D., LL.B. or equivalent law degree.
  • Active membership in good standing with a Bar in the United States or Canada.
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant legal experience gained in-house, at a law firm and/or talent agency.
  • Meaningful experience with intellectual property, licensing, complex commercial contract negotiation and brand collaborations; experience in apparel, retail and/or entertainment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience advising on complex, high-value agreements and managing sophisticated partner relationships.
  • Working knowledge of advertising and marketing regulations, consumer protection and data privacy requirements relevant to collaborations.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and collaboration skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and provide clear, business-oriented advice.

Keys to Success in this Role

  • Commercial judgment - balance legal, brand and relationship considerations to enable creative, high-impact collaborations while responsibly managing risk.
  • Responsiveness - deliver thoughtful advice and agreements at the pace required by high-profile launches and partner negotiations.
  • Relationship mindset - build trust with internal teams and external partners and navigate complex negotiations in a way that supports long-term relationships.
  • Enterprise mindset - understand how collaboration decisions affect the broader business and connect the right partners across functions to drive strong outcomes.
  • Operational excellence - create scalable contract, clearance and compliance processes that improve consistency and speed over time.
  • Flexibility - self-direct work, adapt to changing business priorities and take an entrepreneurial approach to solving new and ambiguous problems.

  • Communicate with honesty and kindness and create the space for others to do the same.
  • Lead with courage, knowing the possibility of greatness is bigger than the fear of failure.
