What is the opportunity?
The Manager, Tax Audits role supports Global Tax Operations in RBC Wealth Management Canada Operations. This role works in close partnership with all RBC Wealth Management Canada business lines and Capital Markets, as well as colleagues across the organization to support global tax compliance and audits.
This role serves to represent RBC and act as the point of contact for Qualified Intermediary (QI), Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) audits and reviews with internal stakeholders, external parties, and regulators. They are responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing on compliance requirements, while also continuing to transform how we work to ensure ongoing adherence to global tax regulations. The ideal candidate will combine strong strategic thinking with operational excellence, driving best practices to develop a culture of Operations collaboration and business accountability.
What will you do?
This role is critical to QI, FATCA, and CRS functions with responsibilities including but not limited to:
Regulatory Oversight
Communicate effectively to the CRA, IRS, and auditors on behalf of the business lines we support.
Act as a subject matter expert on QI, FATCA, and CRS regulations and policies.
Develop a network of industry partners to assess best practices and provide expert direction on global tax compliance, including industry trends and strategies to adopt upcoming changes.
Liaise with auditors, Tax Advisory Groups, Compliance, Legal, and accounting firms to deeply understand QI, FATCA, and CRS requirements.
Review regulator and audit requests, and lead collaboration across impacted business lines, Operations teams, and related stakeholders to respond promptly, accurately, and clearly.
Recommend actions to enhance the effectiveness of our QI, FATCA, and CRS compliance frameworks.
Business Management
Simplify complex QI, FATCA, and CRS concepts and present updates to senior leaders, business stakeholders, and Operations teams.
Clearly articulate regulatory and audit deliverables to a wide audience, with the ability to speak in-depth on QI, FATCA, and CRS to properly assess detailed business impact (e.g. systems, policies, procedures, etc.).
Perform ongoing reviews of current state processes to ensure compliance with evolving QI, FATCA, and CRS requirements.
Coordinate responses and actions across multiple teams across Wealth Management Canada, Capital Markets, and Enterprise to ensure adherence to internal and external audit and compliance requirements.
Organize and execute health checks and preparedness exercises, including controls testing and mock audits.

Must-have
Demonstrated experience in QI/FATCA/CRS documentation and reporting
Excellent written and oral presentation skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail
High professional maturity and emotional intelligence
Ability to actively listen, respectfully challenge, negotiate, and influences outcomes
Ability to think outside the box and grasp broader issues quickly
