Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world since for more than 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.

This position requires an individual who is self‑motivated and capable of working independently or under the instruction from another senior technical engineer and develop his/her career and experience in the nuclear field.

The candidate shall be able to follow instructions from an experienced qualified professional engineer, to complete the assigned construction scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation as required.

Your role
  • Perform engineering work in compliance with QA programs, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for CANDU projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver constructability and design work.
  • Contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of off‑site pre‑assembly and construction packages, including construction methods and sequencing.
  • Prepare and review technical deliverables such as drawings, reports, design change packages, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Support procurement and fabrication by preparing requisitions, evaluating supplier documents, and developing prefabrication, transport, and installation strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance, support field activities, conduct site visits/walkdowns, and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

About you
  • Requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree recognized by PEO and a mandatory P.Eng. license.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, including 2 years in field engineering within heavy industrial environments; nuclear experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of structural/mechanical/piping systems, engineering codes (CSA, ASME), and constructability practices.
  • Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD, SAP), and advanced Excel/database applications.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving ability, with strong communication, technical writing, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in nuclear environments (eligible to become a Nuclear Energy Worker) and prior site/construction or commissioning experience is preferred.
