MSC1130H F (0.25 FCE) GPD Career Course: Skills for Medical Affairs for the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Sectors

GPD Career Course: Skills for Medical Affairs in BioTech and Pharma prepares students for a career path in Medical Affairs (MA) in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Medical Affairs professionals make sure that science drives decision in BioTech and Pharma. They translate data into meaningful clinical practice, support safe and effective use of medicines and act as the ethical compass with the company. The primary goals of this course are to: 1) gain exposure to the MA field overall, including potential jobs and essential skills; 2) understand the strategic and scientific role of the MA professional in the context of the comprehensive pharmaceutical product lifecycle; 3) begin developing skills that are key to success in MA; and 4) learn how to market yourself for a potential role in MA via a cover letter, resume, and networking.

Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term -$5,349.61
Sessional Lecturer II - $5,349.61
Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term - $5,476.98
Sessional Lecturer III - $5,476.98
Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term - $5,614.45

Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD degree in biomedical science or a related discipline and have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in medical affairs in Pharma/Biotech. Applicants must also have experience developing curriculum and demonstrated effective teaching in a college or university setting. Prior experience teaching biomedical graduate students is an asset.

Duties: The sessional lecturer will be responsible for the following duties: preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
