Overview

AtkinsRealis is currently looking for a Mechanical Technologist‑Working Level to join our engineering team in Sheridan Park, Mississauga, Ontario. Functionally reporting to the Manager of Retube Tooling, the Mechanical Technologist would support one of the various Refurbishment or New build projects on the Retube Tooling team. The candidate will be responsible for developing and/or overseeing the conceptual and detailed design, manufacturing, testing, delivery and execution support of tooling systems.

Your role
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
  • Assist in assembly, repairing and maintaining of nuclear inspection or maintenance tooling and mockup equipment.
  • Participate in tooling/equipment testing programs.
  • Prepare route sheets, engineering documentation deliverables for various nuclear tooling.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical failures (wear, misalignment, tolerance issues, assembly errors).
  • Document issues, punch lists, and corrective actions in support of engineering closeout activities.
  • Hands‑on experience with tools, fixtures, lifting devices, and specialized equipment.
  • Complete prioritized work requests on time.
  • Become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW).
  • Travel to vendor facilities and project sites (domestic/international travel) if required - duration of assignments can vary.
  • Support shift work (day/night), if required.
  • Must be "Team" oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.

About you
  • Diploma of Collegial studies in mechanical engineering technology, certificate of qualification from College of Trades and Apprenticeship or relevant technical experience.
  • 5‑8 years of related technical experience in mechanical assembly, testing and repair of tooling/equipment (Nuclear Industry experience would be an asset).
  • Computer skills‑Microsoft Word and Excel etc.
  • Experience with hand tools and common shop equipment required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
  • Effective communication (oral and written) and organization skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.
  • Security Clearance will be required.
