The Product Manager, Home Financing is responsible for managing the P&L (profit and loss), supporting credit analytics, and monitoring the portfolio for home financing products within the Home Financing line of business. This role ensures business plan expectations are met while driving product design, strategy, customer experience, efficiency, compliance, innovation, continuous improvement, and risk management.
Job Descriptions
Portfolio Strategy & Analytics
- Support portfolio strategy, including product development and management, channel optimization, and maintenance of product policies with a focus on risk-return.
- Maintain an external perspective to monitor competitive, environmental, and technological changes; recommend strategies to capitalize on these changes.
- Analyze portfolio trends and develop actionable recommendations to manage credit performance, improve efficiency, drive profitability, and enhance customer experience.
- Monitor current and forecasted metrics for growth, balances, and profitability.
- Use decision-support tools (SAS/SQL/Power BI) to mine and analyze large datasets for insights that improve customer experience and productivity.
- Collaborate with data and analytics teams to execute deep-dive analyses and provide early warning indicators for underwriting and account management adjustments.
Product Management & Development
- Serve as a product expert, understanding all aspects of product performance and drivers (market, financial, business) to inform features and benefits.
- Deliver product solutions and enhancements aligned with strategy, supporting ease of sales, fulfillment, and servicing.
- Develop strategic and tactical plans to manage existing products, streamline offerings, and balance simplification with customer needs.
- Monitor operations to ensure systems and processes are maintained and improved; enhance infrastructure for product delivery and documentation.
- Regularly assess customer and competitive environments to ensure product relevance and competitive positioning.
- Act as subject matter expert for system development and implementation to ensure efficiency and results.
Risk Management
- Proactively identify and manage risks, escalating material issues as needed.
- Develop analytical approaches to measure and mitigate product-level risk; collaborate on operational risk strategies.
- Lead compliance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory and legal requirements.
- Manage risk-based pricing capabilities, incorporating credit and market risk drivers.
- Oversee governance and compliance frameworks to support executive attestations and accountabilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Drive product strategy and lifecycle management, including research, development, and documentation.
- Monitor financial, product, and channel performance; provide actionable insights through reporting and analytics.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage risk across the product portfolio.
- Develop and maintain product policies and procedures to support governance and operational excellence.
- Act as subject matter expert, providing guidance on product features, performance drivers, and market positioning.
- Optimize distribution channels and enhance business models to improve efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Home Financing and related industry experience.
- Strong understanding of consumer credit products and retail credit risk is an asset.
- University degree in business, finance, statistics, data science, or mathematics (graduate degree preferred) and/or 5+ years in product management or consulting.
- Proficiency in SAS/SQL or other programming languages and MS Power BI.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint; ability to operate effectively in both business and technical environments.
- Strong ownership, time management, and ability to deliver high-quality output within deadlines.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to process enhancements and profitability improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Salary:
$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
