About this work area
The role of Visual Merchandiser is an exciting and fast-paced retail design position for a practical, trained in design creative person with a passion
for home furnishings. You must have the proven ability to create, follow and implement design solutions for home furnishing products. This
position requires a design-based 2 – 4-year education program.
You will have:
• A keen eye for aesthetics, composition and colour, with the ability to visualize, draw and present an idea.
• Experience planning three dimensional spaces using computer aided drafting (Revit is preferred) and measuring devices, to design accurate
floor plans, elevations and carpentry specifications.
• The ability to present your ideas and solutions in English through written and verbal communication.
• A good physical ability and dexterity in walking, lifting, climbing and working on 6-10 ft ladders, using hand tools and small power tools
(power drill, hammer, screw drivers, measuring tape, level). Ability to lift or move weight up to 50lbs.
Your responsibilities
This is a team-based work environment, much of your time will be spent in collaboration with others. A typical work week is an active mix of
physically demanding hands-on implementation of display solutions and time spent in team collaboration to plan future projects using Revit and
other software. You will be part of a team planning site specific home furnishing solutions and displays. You will be asked to write copy to support
product displays.
Whole days, or multiple days can be spent physically implementing new projects involving bending, reaching, lifting, climbing stairs and working
atop ladders while using hand tools.
Wearing safety equipment (i.e. reflective vest and steel toe boots) is mandatory.
Together as a Team
Where others see home furnishing products, we see smart solutions to create a better everyday life. With a great deal of passion, imagination and brainstorming we turn colours, textiles and furniture into inspiring environments that excite, engage and convince IKEA visitors that they can do it too!
WHY YOU WILL LOVE US
Here at IKEA, we want to ensure that we are creating a better everyday life for the many people, including our co-workers. We also believe that a
job should be so much more than a job. That's why we focus on having an inclusive work environment where we celebrate your uniqueness, live
our values, and ensure that we walk the talk when it comes to co-worker development. In addition, we offer a comprehensive Total Rewards
package to all co-workers including:
Wellness days (in addition to your vacation days!)
Extended health, dental, and vision coverage (for you and your family)

Eligibility for our annual IKEA bonus incentive plan
Flexible spending account
Life insurance
Merchandise and restaurant discounts (plus free drinks and different healthy meal options in the co-worker restaurant, where available)
Parental leave
Bereavement leave
Employee assistance program (that helps you support your mental, physical, and financial wellbeing)
The starting rate/ salary for this position ranges from 49,120 CAD to 67,540 CAD and will be based on relevant work experience.
