Cord is seeking a Project Controls Lead to join our project controls team at our project site in Edmonton, Alberta.
Work Conditions:
Project site-based schedule. 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for identification, cost / schedule analysis and process scope
· Effective working with construction subcontractor and home office in determining the interface milestones with the design / procurement team
· Worked with the subcontractor in the development of the weighted detailed construction schedule, verified subcontractors progress and submitted progress reports
· Managed the contractual aspects of the subcontractor and changes in growth in subcontractor quantities
· Negotiated price adjustments with subcontractor
· Interprets the subcontract with contractor and resolved contractual conflicts
· Amended subcontract with contractor and performed cost analysis and forecasted field cost
· Experience includes project planning and scheduling, budgeting, cost tracking and cost forecasting
· Skilled in cost control and cost management of projects, implementation of change control processes and performance and progress analysis
· Experience in civil design including site planning and earthworks, structures, roads, water distribution, pavement pipeline layouts and traffic design
· Strong analytical and strategic abilities
· Detailed orientated and self-motivated
· Implemented change control processes, measured project performance and performed variance analysis
· Developed and implemented schedule and cost recovery plans, prepared internal management reports and client reports and deliverables
· Responsible for the project coordination between clients, engineers, suppliers and contractors
· Ensuring consistent application of Cord project controls systems on all projects.
· Preparation of project cost reports.
· Incorporating scope change and trend costs into cost reports.
· Project cost forecasting.
· Liaison with management, field project controls resources and clients on matters pertaining to project controls.
· Perform general managerial functions and oversee work in progress and day to day activities
· Review and compare planned quantity estimates with actual resources expended
· Perform marketing efforts and representation functions to establish and maintain good relations with clientele and supplier base
· Manage and develop a project master schedule to control activities during project execution
· Prepare program of work for each project including project scope, estimates of work items, material quantities and detailed cost estimates

· Provide contact point for customer and ensure smooth communication
· Ensure customer request for scope changes are properly costed, approved and documented
· Work to manage job costs and update variances from sale orders
· Responsible for managing customer relationships and directing multi-office teams of engineers, technologists, designers and support staff
· Experience in a heavy industrial engineering/construction environment.
· Exposure to all disciplines including but not limited to;
- Earthworks/Civil/Piling/Concrete
- Fabrication and Module Assembly
- Field Piping and Mechanical
- Field Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls
- Field Insulation
· Minimum of 10 years engineering/construction project controls experience.
· Extensive background in establishing scope of work, cost optimization opportunities, cost control and implementation of projects
· Effective using discretion and effective communication to find optimum project solutions
· Senior level experience in the welding or metallurgical design of oil and gas production plants, refineries and chemical plants
· Industrial QA/QC experience including many years exposure to large construction projects
· Experience developing construction, cost, forecast and client relation reports
