Purpose

We are currently recruiting for a Senior / Principal Process Engineer to join our team of world-class experts and dynamic problem-solvers. The successful candidate will provide process engineering expertise across a diverse portfolio of energy, chemicals, resources, and industrial projects. Depending on experience, the individual will serve as a senior technical contributor, supporting projects through all phases of execution, from early studies and concept development through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up. This is a full-time position based in either Calgary or Edmonton, or Vancouver.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver process engineering services that meet Worley, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Perform process engineering activities such as:
    • Identify and report changes to project scope.
    • Assist with the preparation of proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
    • Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities, including preparation of requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor reviews.
    • Contribute to technical studies, process design analyses, troubleshooting, and optimization initiatives.
    • Prepare and review engineering deliverables including process simulations, design calculations, process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, equipment specifications, reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in feasibility studies, conceptual design, FEED, detailed engineering, and brownfield modification projects.
  • Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, when required.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices in process engineering.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and seek assistance when required.

Required Technical and Industry Experience

  • Demonstrated process engineering experience within the energy, chemicals, resources, or related industries.
  • Strong technical and practical engineering skills with the ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work.
  • Solid understanding of the fundamental requirements of process engineering and the basic requirements of other engineering disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local and international standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing process engineering deliverables for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Competent use of process engineering software and relevant tools such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, CAD applications, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience supporting projects through multiple phases of execution, including studies, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Ability to evaluate technical issues, develop practical solutions, and provide sound engineering judgement.
  • For Principal-level candidates, recognized technical expertise and extensive experience supporting complex projects within the energy, chemicals, resources, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and contribute to technical excellence across project teams.

Education, Qualifications, Accreditation, Training Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Experience within consulting, engineering services, EPCM, or owner-operator environments.
  • Experience across one or more sectors including upstream, midstream, downstream, petrochemicals, refining, LNG, CCUS, hydrogen, renewable fuels, mining, or industrial processing facilities.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $122,176 to $206,123
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
