You will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the design and delivery of large-scale projects in the field of electrical substations. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and specialists, you will participate in stimulating projects ranging from the modernization of existing facilities to the complete design of new electrical infrastructure for public and private sector clients across Quebec and Canada.

In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of designs while contributing to the development of innovative solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in identifying client needs, defining project scopes, and preparing service proposals, cost estimates, and project scope documents;
  • Participating in the design and development of electrical equipment layouts and installations for medium- and high-voltage substations;
  • Designing the installation and arrangement of electrical equipment by producing, updating, and reviewing technical drawings, electrical schematics, layout plans, section views, equipment lists, technical specifications, and related documents;
  • Performing technical studies such as lightning protection, lighting, flexible busbar systems, rigid busbar systems, cable heating, voltage drop, cable pulling, grounding, and related analyses;
  • Contributing to equipment selection based on technical requirements, applicable standards, and client needs;
  • Developing equipment specifications, fabrication, installation, and construction specifications, calculation notes, and technical reports in compliance with applicable codes and standards;
  • Coordinating technically with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of project components and to develop innovative, optimized engineering solutions;
  • Participating in project follow-up meetings and contributing to the resolution of technical issues throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Reviewing designs for compliance and ensuring adherence to applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices;
  • Assisting in the preparation of construction, tendering, and commissioning documentation;
  • Providing technical support to field teams and clients during project execution;
  • Conducting site visits and field assessments, as required, to gather information necessary for design and project follow-up;
  • Participating in design reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities when required;
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of work methods, design standards, and team tools;
  • Acting as a mentor to less experienced engineers and designers and contributing to the advancement of engineering standards and practices within the team;
  • Developing and maintaining long-term client relationships by serving as a trusted technical advisor and contributing to business development initiatives;
  • Gradually expanding responsibilities based on your interests, experience, and professional development goals.

Desired Profile

Your application will receive particular consideration if you possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in the design or execution of projects involving electrical substations, power stations, or medium- and high-voltage infrastructure;
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible to obtain membership;
  • Strong knowledge of equipment and systems used in electrical substations, including switchgear, power transformers, auxiliary systems, protection and control systems, and grounding networks;
  • Solid understanding of standards, codes, and best practices applicable to the electrical power industry;
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings, schematics, and documentation with accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with various stakeholders;
  • Excellent command of both French and English, spoken and written;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, CATIA, or other computer-aided design (CAD) software is considered an asset;
  • Valid ASP Construction certification or willingness to obtain it;
  • Experience in consulting engineering, the hydroelectric sector, or projects completed for Hydro-Québec or other electric utilities is considered a significant asset;
  • Excellent technical writing skills for preparing engineering reports, studies, specifications, functional analyses, and other technical documentation;
