Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate for this Structural Engineer – Buildings position will provide technical expertise in structural buildings systems with a focus on water/wastewater projects. The work will be to support the water business line. The work will a mixture of office work and site travel.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate structural engineering designs from conceptual design, through tender into construction.
- Prepare/oversee design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures.
- Ensure Stantec’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures are followed during project planning and execution.
- Assist in the coordination of project design activities and the preparation of engineering work
- Travel to site to review construction progress and report on findings.
- Develop and maintain a network of clients, both internal and external to Stantec.
- Work with the Buildings Practice management team in developing tools and techniques for the execution of daily duties.
- Work will be highly focused on water/wastewater projects for the next year and will evolve as the business need evolves.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- You possess an understanding of building structures design and project delivery types.
- Experienced with the use of the National and Manitoba Building Codes.
- Working knowledge of the requirements of concrete, steel, masonry and wood codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Class 5 license and access to your own vehicle are required. Travel expenses are reimbursed based on Stantec travel policies.
- Understanding with structural finite element engineering design software. Understanding of SAP2000 and StaadPro is considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a multidiscipline group.
- Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and demonstrate flexible approach to work assignments.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized University is required.
- Should have minimum 2 years experience and should be registered in EGM.
- Post-graduation experience in a structural design is an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
