The Opportunity
Model the Future of Water Resources - Shape the world around you as part of our highly regarded Environmental Management team in British Columbia. Join one of the largest and most experienced hydrogeology groups in BC and the Yukon, where you'll contribute to complex groundwater studies that support sustainable water management, resource development, and environmental stewardship.
As an Experienced Groundwater Modeller, you'll work alongside leading hydrogeologists, geoscientists, and engineers on projects spanning mining, infrastructure, energy, industrial development, and environmental assessment. This role offers the opportunity to advance your modelling expertise while delivering solutions that help communities and industries make informed decisions about groundwater resources.
Your Impact
- Develop and apply conceptual and numerical groundwater flow and transport models to support environmental assessments, permitting, operational water management, and closure planning.
- Analyze hydrogeological datasets and integrate field investigation results into defensible modelling frameworks.
- Support groundwater supply development, aquifer characterization, dewatering studies, and contaminant hydrogeology assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across environmental, mining, geotechnical, and water resources projects.
- Interpret modelling results and communicate technical findings through reports, presentations, and client discussions.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, work planning, and project execution while supporting successful project delivery.
- Mentor junior staff and share technical knowledge to strengthen modelling capabilities across the team.
- Support innovation through the application of emerging modelling, visualization, and data analytics tools.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- MSc or PhD in Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline with a focus on groundwater modelling.
- Approximately 4-8 years of experience applying groundwater modelling in consulting, industry, research, or government environments.
- Experience developing and calibrating numerical groundwater models using tools such as MODFLOW, FEFLOW, HydroGeoSphere, Seep/W, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of hydrogeological principles, groundwater-surface water interactions, contaminant transport, and aquifer characterization.
- Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization tools including ArcGIS, Leapfrog, ParaView, or similar software.
- Experience with Python, scripting, database management, or advanced analytical workflows is considered an asset.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently.
