TriCert Investment Counsel is an independent Canadian portfolio management firm based in Waterloo, Ontario managing approximately $4.5 billion in client assets. We work closely with our clients’ accountants and financial planners to provide an integrated wealth management experience, helping ensure investment decisions are informed by a broader understanding of each client’s financial, tax, and planning circumstances. We are growing and looking for an Investment Analyst to join our Portfolio Management team. This is an opportunity for someone early in their investment career to build practical experience in research, portfolio analysis, model portfolio management, and investment decision support within a disciplined, client-focused portfolio management firm. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Portfolio Managers and gain exposure to how investment decisions are developed, implemented, and monitored across a meaningful client base. This role is well suited to someone who is analytical, curious, detail-oriented, and interested in building a long-term career in portfolio management. This is a full-time role based out of our Waterloo head office. Key Responsibilities
  • Research, analyze, and support Portfolio Managers in developing investment recommendations
  • Generate and manage research that supports investment decisions within assigned sector
  • Perform fundamental security and industry analysis to identify companies with superior risk-return profiles
  • Perform quantitative modelling and analysis for security and industry selection
  • Document research ideas and investment rationales, and maintain analytical tools used to evaluate stocks for inclusion in funds
  • Communicate high-conviction recommendations to the broader team and work closely with Portfolio Managers
  • Assist in creating prospective client materials and investment proposals under the guidance of a Portfolio Manager
  • Engage and present to external stakeholders
  • Support the rebalancing of model portfolios
  • Participate in ongoing research and process improvement initiatives
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, statistics, or economics
  • Completed, or willing to complete, Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, or the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) in pursuit of the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a must
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
The following experience/skills would be considered strong assets:
  • Familiarity with AI tools and proficiency in large language model “LLM” prompt writing
  • Interest in financial markets and wealth management
  • Prior industry experience is an asset but not required - we welcome candidates early in their career who are eager to learn
