Your key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and complete compilation and review engagements, ensuring timely delivery of accurate and high-quality client work.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Perform account reconciliations, analytical reviews, and variance analyses, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
- Prepare personal, corporate, trust, and HST returns while ensuring compliance with applicable tax legislation and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with engagement teams to deliver exceptional client service, resolve issues proactively, and ensure successful delivery of engagements.
- Manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities in a fast-paced environments, consistently meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Continuously expand accounting, tax, and advisory knowledge through professional development, career growth initiatives, and hands-on learning.
- Mentor and support co-op students by sharing technical knowledge, answering questions, and contributing to their learning and professional growth.
What you bring:
- 1 to 2 years of progressive public accounting experience, with exposure delivering compilation and review engagements, tax filings, and client advisory services.
- Committed to pursuing your CPA designation with a passion for accounting (a copy of your transcripts will be requested as part of the application process!).
- Proven experience applying Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), relevant income tax provisions, and general accounting principles.
- Technically proficient in Taxprep, CaseWare, and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-driven professional with a passion for continuous learning, a strong sense of ownership, and the confidence to embrace new challenges.
- Effective written and verbal communicator, with the ability to translate complex matters into clear insights and collaborate seamlessly with engagement teams.
- Demonstrated alignment with McGovern Hurley’s values of collaboration, respect, accountability, integrity, and quality.
Job Details:
- Number of vacancies: 1
- Hours of Work: 37.5 per week; as a professional you acknowledge that some overtime will be required
- Location: 251 Consumers Road, North York, ON
- Salary: $58,000 - $80,000
- Placement within the range will depend on depth of experience, demonstrated skills and alignment with the scope of the role
