Kawartha Lakes Youth Unlimited -Elementary Outreach Worker Title: Elementary Outreach Worker - 2 positions availableAccountable to: Martin Chipp-Smith - KLYU Satellite DirectorHours Employed: TBD - Part-time or Full-Time
OVERVIEW OF POSITIONThe focus of this role is to design ministry for elementary aged youth through Youth Unlimited programs (in schools and in the community), as well as outreach ministry to youth and their families through community engagement.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ● Running elementary program(s) for youth in the Kawartha Lakes Satellite (Lindsay, Coboconk, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon, Kirkfield, Woodville, Cameron) throughout the school year.● Participating in a community assessment process (i.e. What is the greatest felt need for youth in this community)● Designing an engagement strategy and ministry plan to reach elementary youth in the Kawartha Lakes area under our mission and mandate: “every young person living fully in Christ”. This includes but is not limited to:
  • House visits/ Intakes
  • Youth Connections
  • Transportation
  • Elementary aged programming
  • Church partnerships
  • Community partnerships
  • Summer camps /programming
● Designing and preparing for summer programming● Engaging in the hiring process for summer staff
DIRECT MINISTRY EXPECTATIONS● Leading and assisting in the planning and development of Youth Unlimited elementary programs including but not limited to in-school programs, after school programs, come cook with us, mentoring and summer camps● Leading small group discussions and bible talk times with elementary aged youth.● Outreach to elementary aged youth and their families● One-on-one mentorship of elementary aged youth
STAFF / VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS● Working with your team to find ways to enhance or create outreach, evangelism and discipleship efforts for youth through elementary programs or initiatives● Developing effective ways to promote and advertise elementary programs for youth● Being an ambassador for Youth Unlimited at church and community events● Participating in staff training, Kawartha Lakes staff meetings and monthly meetings in Peterborough at Kawartha Connect ● Involvement in fundraising events.
ORGANIZATIONAL / ADMINISTRATIVE EXPECTATIONS● Submit bi-monthly Ministry Reports to the Satellite Director or direct supervisor.● Keep accurate records of ministry activities and events.● Provide input to the Satellite Director in the development of the annual satellite budget.● Be accountable for budgeted program expenses and submit reports as required.● Understand and implement current KYFC/YU Policy (ie. Human Resources & Risk Management) and ensure that staff members and volunteers comply.● Observe health and safety requirements pertaining to the ministry activities. COMMUNICATION EXPECTATIONS● Project a visible and positive image of KYFC/YU in the community.● Diplomatically deal with criticisms or questions from the community (consulting with supervisor as necessary).● Communicate to youth, parents, and community by using social media while following the KYFC/YU Social Media Guidelines.● Write articles and/or provide relevant programming information for KYFC MOMENTUM newsletter and Satellite specific newsletters/updates.
SPIRITUAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT● Pursue an active, growing relationship with God.● Establish relationships for accountability and mentoring.● Participate in training opportunities as approved by the Executive Director.● Agree to our Statement of Faith and follow YFC Canada Community Commitments.● Completion of YFC Canada Credentialing Program. MEETINGS● Meet with your supervisor on a regular basis.● Attend monthly Chapter/Satellite Staff Meetings.● Participate in annual evaluation and job description review/performance review.
