SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in-service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team. In this role, you are responsible Front-End Inspector supporting QA and inspection activities for Extraction operations, including fixed equipment and slurry/tailings systems, with a focus on outage readiness, inspection quality, and compliance.
SHIFT AND LOCATION
- This position will be site based (Wood Buffalo region)
- Fly in/fly out (Calgary and Edmonton hubs)
- Camp based, 14 days on/14 days off rotation
- Independent contractors welcome to apply.
- Collaborate with the business units to address urgent issues and oversee routine slurry-line and equipment outages.
- Review and approve Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure alignment with scope and quality requirements
- Analyze and examine data from slurry and tailings-line inspections to develop outage scopes aimed at optimizing asset longevity
- Coordinate with maintenance teams, planning, shutdown teams and inspection leads to effectively prepare for and manage complex outage scenarios
- Conduct inspections during routine outages including tanks, vessels, and piping
- Manage contractor inspectors for visual and non-destructive testing (NDE)
- Develop repair plans; and verify and witness critical details and activities
- Evaluate and review inspection reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Verify all processes, procedures and materials comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements
- Record and document any defects or deviations from quality standards, and generate detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations and corrective actions
- Perform pre-operational inspections and checks to verify that new or repaired equipment is ready for service and meets all safety and operational requirements
- Engage in root cause analysis of quality issues and assist in developing and implementing corrective and preventative actions to address and identified problems
- Oil Sands experience with Extraction and Tailings required
- Certifications in API 510 /570
- 653 consider an asset
- ABSA In-service inspector certification considered an asset
- CWB Level 2 considered an asset
- Knowledge of regulatory and industrial codes and standards such as CSA, ASME, National Board, and API
- Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined Space Entry and Rescue, and OSSA Fall Protection, Gas Detection Awareness
- Effective communication skills both written and verbally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP
- Strong commitment to safety and work management systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues before they become major problems
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid driver’s license
