We are seeking an experienced Electrical Lines Inspector to provide field oversight, observation, and reporting services on major transmission and electrical utility projects across Ontario. The successful candidate will act as the client's representative in the field, observing the work of Prime Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure construction activities are progressing in accordance with project requirements, specifications, drawings, safety expectations, and established quality standards.Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily onsite observation and oversight of Prime Contractors and Subcontractors performing transmission and electrical construction activities.
- Act as the client's field representative, providing objective observations and reporting on construction progress and contractor performance.
- Monitor construction activities to verify work is being completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards.
- Observe transmission line construction, electrical installation, and utility infrastructure activities.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor work practices, sequencing, productivity, and progress.
- Identify and report construction deficiencies, issues, deviations, delays, and potential risks to the client.
- Prepare detailed daily field reports, inspection reports, progress updates, photographs, and supporting documentation.
- Track contractor progress against project schedules and communicate significant schedule impacts.
- Coordinate with the client's project team, Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineering, QA/QC, HSE personnel, and contractor representatives.
- Participate in site meetings, construction coordination meetings, and progress reviews as required.
- Verify materials, equipment, and workmanship are consistent with project requirements.
- Escalate safety, quality, schedule, or construction concerns to the appropriate client representative.
- Maintain accurate field records and documentation throughout the project.
- Support the client in monitoring the performance of Prime Contractors and Subcontractors throughout the construction lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years of experience in electrical utility, transmission, distribution, or electrical construction environments.
- Extensive field experience with transmission line construction and electrical infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience as a Linesman/Lineworker, Electrical Construction Supervisor, Construction Manager, Electrical Inspector, Utility Inspector, or similar senior field role.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, transmission infrastructure, and utility project execution.
- Experience working directly with Prime Contractors and Subcontractors in an onsite construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to identify construction issues and provide clear, factual reporting to the client.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, work packages, and project documentation.
- Ability to work independently in a field environment and effectively communicate with contractors and client stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work 50+ hours per week, including extended site hours when required.
