As the Cafe Coordinator, you serve as both a key operational pillar for our café and a warm, welcoming presence for the tech community. From managing daily inventory and catering logistics to crafting internal content and guiding daily shift workflows, you ensure our café remains an energetic, efficient, and inviting front door to the Platform Innovation Centre.This is a full-time position. (37.5 hours/week)
The Day-to-Day Activities:The day-to-day activities of the Cafe Ambassador will include:As the Cafe Coordinator, your daily responsibilities will span across front-of-house excellence, back-of-house operations, catering, and community engagement:
- Front-of-House & Hospitality: Deliver high-quality service, manage POS transactions, and execute daily opening/closing procedures while welcoming the tech community.
- Inventory Management: Maintain stock levels, place recurring orders, and oversee FIFO rotation and waste logs to optimize efficiency.
- Catering Coordination: Support end-to-end catering operations, from calendar management and dietary coordination to physical setup and teardown.
- Marketing & Admin: Create promotional content for internal platforms and manage operational data entry, supplier reconciliation, and sales reporting in Square.
- Team Support: Provide real-time peer coaching to Cafe Ambassadors, assign daily task checklists, and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Safety & Maintenance: Verify maintenance logs, deep-cleaning schedules, and food safety protocols to ensure a safe, pristine environment.
Qualifications:The right candidate will bring a blend of hands-on café experience and organizational rigor:
- Experience: 1-3 years of front-of-house experience in a café, restaurant, or high-touch customer service environment. Experience handling inventory, catering, or basic floor guidance is considered a strong asset.
- Organizational & Multi-tasking Skills: Proven ability to manage concurrent priorities—balancing stock orders, customer service, and event catering without losing attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with guests, vendors, internal teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Technical Literacy: Comfort working with POS software (Square), workspace platforms (Nexudus), communication channels (Slack), and basic graphic creation tools (e.g., Canva) or an eagerness to master them quickly.
