About EcopiaEcopia AI (Ecopia®) is on a mission to create a digital twin of the Earth. We leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to convert high-resolution imagery into high-precision 3D vector map data at scale. This data creates a digital representation of the physical world, forming the foundation of a digital twin for visualization, analytics, and decision-making. Ecopia's data is leveraged by hundreds of commercial and government organizations across more than 100 countries around the world. Learn more at ecopia.ai.About the role
Ecopia's data has historically served enterprise and government customers. This role exists because we are opening a second front: a self-serve product built for small and medium-sized businesses in architecture, engineering, construction, landscaping, and field services — operators who need high-quality geospatial data to sharpen their day-to-day work.
That means a different buyer, a different motion, and a different story:
  • A different buyer. Owners and operations leaders at small and mid-sized firms — not GIS directors or procurement teams.
  • A different motion. Self-serve sign-up and activation, not long enterprise sales cycles.
  • A different position. Ecopia as the data layer that makes field operations sharper — better quotes and defensible service area maps.

You will join at the start of this motion, not partway through a machine someone else already built. Working directly alongside the Head of Product Growth, you will help drive qualified sign-ups and activations to Ecopia's self-serve product — supporting organic discoverability, paid acquisition, and vertical positioning, while helping build the content and brand foundation for an entirely new buyer segment.
What you will doGrowth — 75%
  • AI search and generative engine optimization (GEO). Help build and track Ecopia's presence in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews for the queries our buyers actually type. We treat citations in AI assistants as a primary acquisition channel, not an afterthought.
  • Search engine optimization (SEO). Support keyword research, write content briefs, and help build the on-page foundation for queries like "aerial imagery for landscape estimating" or "property data for field service routing." This includes drafting and iterating vertical landing pages that lead with what Ecopia actually does for each segment — not generic category copy.
  • Paid acquisition. Work alongside the Head of Product Growth and our agency partners on campaigns across Google, Meta, and X. Help with creative iteration, landing page variants, and reporting on what each channel costs us per activated customer.
  • Product positioning. Help translate geospatial data into the language each industry actually uses. Draft and test messaging by segment.
  • Funnel and instrumentation. Help connect HubSpot, our ad platforms, and product analytics so we can trace every sign-up back to its source. Run experiments and report what is working each week.

Marketing and content — 25%
  • Content. Contribute to a regular blog cadence focused on the practical problems operators solve with geospatial data.
  • Social proof. Help gather and produce testimonials and case studies from our early self-serve customers — built to convert, not to decorate.
  • Trade shows. Support the team on events already on our calendar and help research new ones worth attending. Each one runs as a lead-generation funnel: outreach before, capture on-site, and follow-up after.
  • Brand and voice. Help establish a voice that lands with hands-on operators — down-to-earth and outcomes-focused, rather than enterprise and government in tone.

What you will ownThese are yours, end to end:
  • At least one vertical landing page — brief, copy, build, and results readout.
  • The weekly growth experiment log: what we tried, what happened, and what we do next.
  • The AI search citation tracker — which queries we show up in across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, etc., and how that moves over your term.
  • A minimum of 2 published content pieces (video, written) per month, targeting real buyer questions.

Why you will want this role
  • Real ownership, not shadow work. You will ship live landing pages, run experiments, and publish content that real prospects see. Your work gets measured, not filed.
  • Be your own entrepreneur. That is a company value here, not a slogan. A brand-new growth motion is where that is most literally true.
  • Range across the business. In four months you will touch positioning, paid media, SEO and AI search, analytics, content, and events. That breadth is hard to get at a larger company.
  • A path, not a dead end. We hire co-op students intending to convert them — to a return work term or a full-time offer.

What your term looks like
  • Weeks 1–2 — Orient. A goal-setting session with your manager covering written expectations, deliverables, and what a strong term looks like. Learn the product and the data, and sit in on real customer conversations. Deliver a short written audit of where our search and AI search presence stands today.
  • Weeks 3–6 — Ship your first work. Draft and publish your first vertical landing page. Stand up the AI search citation tracker and take a baseline reading. Publish your first blog posts.
  • Weeks 7–12 — Iterate. Run and report on paid creative and landing page variants. Build a second landing page informed by what the first one taught you. Contribute to case study and testimonial work with early customers. Midterm review and feedback.
  • Weeks 13–16 — Land it. Deliver your final readout: what worked, what did not, and what the team should do next. Hand over the citation tracker, experiment log, and content pipeline. Final review, and a conversation about a return term or a full-time opportunity.

What we are looking for
  • Currently enrolled in a University of Waterloo co-op program and eligible for a Fall 2026 work term. Global Business and Digital Arts (GBDA) is a strong fit, and we welcome applicants from any program with relevant coursework or portfolio work.
  • Demonstrated interest in growth, digital marketing, or product marketing — through coursework, personal projects, a previous work term, or something you started yourself.
  • Strong writing. You can take a technical product and explain it plainly to someone who is not technical.
  • Comfort with data. You can build a report, read it honestly, and say what it means. Spreadsheets are enough to start.
  • Curiosity about AI search. You do not need production experience here, but you should already be thinking about how AI assistants are changing the way people find things.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. This is a brand-new motion inside an established company, and the plan will change while you are here.

Nice to have
  • Any hands-on exposure to paid advertising — a campaign for a club, a personal project, a previous work term, or coursework.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, Google Analytics, or any product analytics tool.
  • Interest in geospatial, mapping, or data products.
  • Design or prototyping ability — Figma, or comfort assembling a landing page.
  • Any experience marketing to trades, construction, or field-service audiences.

How success is measuredYou will be measured on the work you ship and what it teaches us:
  • Experiments shipped and documented over the term.
  • Landing pages published, and how they convert.
  • Content published, and the sign-ups it drives.
  • The quality of your weekly readout — does it help the team make a decision?

You will also see the team-level numbers you are contributing to: self-serve sign-ups by source, activations, organic traffic to our vertical pages, and our citation share in AI assistants.
