Job Summary: The Booth Operator works in a fast-paced, computerized environment, responsible for safely operating booth equipment, ensuring apples meet the company's quality standards, and contributing to a smooth and efficient production flow. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication with the Packline Production Lead, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality. The Booth Operator plays a critical role in optimizing the packing process, supporting packline staff, and ensuring the product meets customer specifications. Role and Accountability: · Safely operate and monitor booth equipment to ensure apples are sorted and processed to meet quality standards. · Perform real-time troubleshooting of booth equipment, ensuring continuous operation without delays. · Inspect apples for quality before they enter the packline, ensuring they meet company and customer specifications. · Identify and remove any substandard or defective apples immediately, ensuring the integrity of the production process. · Work closely with the Packline Production Lead to ensure smooth production flow and effective allocation of tasks. · Use communication tools (e.g., PA system, iPads) to coordinate the flow of information with packline staff and supervisors. · Accurately document packing weights, downtime, and other necessary data using iPads and PDF forms. · Maintain the efficiency of the operation by monitoring the changing flow of fruit, anticipating backlogged areas and making adjustments to line speed, outputs, or staffing · Ensure timely and accurate data reporting to track production and operational metrics. · Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting safety hazards immediately. · Ensure food safety standards are followed, including hygiene, safety shoes, hairnets, and adherence to dress code policies. · Work collaboratively with other Packline staff, Quality Assurance (QA), and maintenance teams to address issues and optimize the production process. · Assist in training and mentoring newer team members on booth operations, quality control, and safety procedures. · Adapt quickly to changing production needs and troubleshoot equipment issues when necessary to maintain workflow. · Work proactively to solve problems and improve booth operations. · Ensure consistent communication with the Packline Production Lead for operational coordination. · Conduct routine maintenance checks on booth equipment to prevent downtime. · Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues during shifts. · Track production performance data and report discrepancies in real time. · Follow a proactive approach to minimize downtime during transitions and production flow changes. · Assist in training and mentoring newer team members on booth operations, quality control, and safety procedures. · Clean and sanitize production areas, equipment, and tools following company and food safety standards. · Ensure that all cleaning activities are documented and comply with regulatory requirements. · Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, reordering as necessary. · Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards identified during cleaning activities. · Participate in regular training on cleaning procedures and safety protocols. · Operate and monitor equipment in the computer booth to ensure products meet quality standards. · Perform real-time troubleshooting of booth equipment to prevent production delays. · Inspect products for quality before they enter the packline, removing defective items as necessary. · Document packing weights, downtime, and other relevant data accurately. · Collaborate with packline staff and supervisors to address operational issues promptly. · Provide leadership and guidance to a team of workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Communicate with management staff to support and solve employee concerns · Assist in training new employees and provide ongoing support to existing team members. · Monitor team performance and report any issues to supervisors. · Ensure that all team members adhere to company policies and safety protocols. · Execute daily responsibilities to meet departmental goals while adhering to company values (Humble, Driven, Solutions-Oriented). · Provide feedback and suggestions to improve processes within the scope of the role. · Attend relevant department and company-wide meetings, including Level 10 meetings, contributing to organizational alignment and effectiveness. · Collaborate cross-functionally to address challenges, develop solutions, and align strategies with company goals. · Utilize Microsoft To-Do (or similar) for task tracking and reminders, ensuring productivity and accountability. · Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Strong ability to operate computerized booth equipment and perform troubleshooting. · Ability to monitor produce quality consistently and accurately. · Strong verbal communication skills to work with supervisors, packline workers, and maintenance teams. · High attention to detail for sorting and ensuring the quality of produce. · Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and make timely decisions. · Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to work safely within the production environment. Education and Experience: · High school diploma or equivalent required. · Experience with optical sorting systems or food production equipment preferred. · Previous experience in a similar position in a fast-paced production environment is a plus. Physical Requirements: · Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. · Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods during the shift. · Comfort and capability in using stairs regularly as part of daily activities. · Ability to work in varying temperatures (cold storage and production areas). · Regularly work overtime as required to meet production demands. · Ability to move up and down stairs and throughout the packline quickly · Ability to communicate clearly and effectively over radio or PA communication channels Work Schedule: · The successful candidate will be required to work any shift necessary to meet the operational needs of the business. This may include days, afternoons, weekends, statutory holidays, and Sunday-Saturday.
