Job Details:
As a lean and agile team, we’re looking for someone that is excited by the opportunity to wear different hats - being creative while facilitating client discovery sessions and being focused at keeping detailed project plans are all within the scope of this role.
What you’ll do:As the Functional Lead & Project Manager, you’ll work closely with business stakeholders and our internal technical team to ensure project deliverables correctly meet our clients’ needs. You’ll run discovery sessions with the client to gather business requirements, analyze the technical feasibility of their requirements, and translate the requirements into technical specifications for the development team. Your efficient delivery of project outcomes, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be done throughout each project’s lifecycle. With much of your work completed remotely, the ability to communicate with clients via both email and conference calls is of the utmost importance. You will also:
- Lead client discovery sessions with business stakeholders to identify their business requirements, listening and understanding client industry, business models, processes, inefficiencies and pain points.
- Map business requirements and process flows, translate them into technical/development steps.
- Lead and participate in solution design meetings, with a strategic view that takes into account a range of considerations including client goals, capacity, security, and long term scalability
- Create, prioritize, and groom user stories, then create and delegate tickets for the development team.
- Manage project activities throughout the lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budget, and other factors necessary for success.
- Provide input for project plans, estimates and scopes for proposals and SOWs
- Plan and guide the team through all project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using the appropriate software tools and waterfall/agile methodologies.
- Build strategic relationships to grow account insight and uncover new revenue opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Reallocate resources across multiple projects where necessary; identify and resolve any resource allocation discrepancies.
- Produce regular reports (status, risks, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects; deliver these reports during regular stakeholder touchpoints.
- Track all project costs to ensure completion within budget; procure extra budget funding where necessary.
- Establish and maintain change control processes and conduct change control meetings for scope changes and prioritizations
- Identify and actively manage potential project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct project retrospectives in order to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
- Adhere to platform best practices, finding opportunities for enhancements and bringing existing code into best practices
- Conduct comprehensive testing for stability and function
- Provide ongoing thought leadership, training, coaching and support to technical consultants and team members
In this position, you will have flexibility to be remote, or hybrid (Toronto, ON). Some travel may be required for on-site meetings or attendance of conferences.
About you:You have an analytical mindset and are constantly looking to create order and clarity out of chaos and ambiguity. You can quickly identify and get to the bottom of issues, and have proactive problem-solving skills to match. You’re driven to deliver on project deadlines through teamwork, innovation and excellence. People describe you as organized and motivated to learn and take action. Your customer focus, leadership, and integrity are what will help you succeed in this role. Being the bridge between client and technical teams excites you, and you’re up for any curveball the day may bring.
