About the Role
The Laser Press Operator is a key contributor to our manufacturing team, responsible for operating laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality sheet metal components. This role plays a critical part in supporting production efficiency and product quality by ensuring accurate cutting, proper material handling, and adherence to safety and quality standards. We currently have one opening for the evening shift.
- In the near term, this role will focus on safely operating laser cutting equipment, material loading/unloading, and supporting production flow.
- In the longer term, as operations expand, the role will evolve to include increased ownership of machine setup, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization.
- Business and operational needs will determine the exact pace of this transition.
Key Responsibilities
You are a dedicated individual who values sustainability and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment. You are detail-oriented, safety-focused, and take pride in producing high-quality work. You will work closely with the Manufacturing Team to:
- Operate laser cutting machinery to cut sheet metal components according to specifications
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts safely and efficiently
- Read and interpret job travellers, drawings, and work instructions
- Ensure accuracy of cuts and perform basic quality checks on finished components
- Monitor machine performance and report any issues or defects to Supervisor or Team Lead
- Support production workflow by staging materials and organizing finished parts
- Perform basic machine maintenance tasks (cleaning, minor adjustments) as required
- Collaborate with Brake Press and other operators to ensure smooth production flow
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area in line with 5S standards
- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a culture of workplace safety
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Lead
Experience and Skills
- Previous experience operating laser cutting equipment or similar machinery preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is an asset
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed instructions
- Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or work on your feet for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Safety-focused mindset with adherence to workplace protocols
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment

Hourly Salary
- $27 – 29/hr
Location and Schedule
- On-site evening shift (2pm - 10:30pm) at 1575 Vernon Drive, Vancouver, BC V6A 3P8
- On-site onboarding training will be during the morning shift (6am-2:30pm) for the first few weeks of employment
