About this opportunity:
As Key Leader, you work with the store team to deliver an exceptional Poppy Barley customer experience, embodying our commitment to luxury for the people. You open and close the store, assist in the organization and delegation of store workload, and provide leadership on the sales floor, providing amazing customer service and connecting with and educating customers.
Leadership:
  • Lead the sales floor to motivate the team to achieve store sales and customer experience goals.
  • Support the daily operations of the store to ensure tasks are completed based on previously determined priorities.
  • Foster a culture that balances financial success, community impact, and execution excellence while creating a fun and dynamic atmosphere.

Customer Experience:
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience for everyone who visits us at our stores, with a focus on connection and education of Poppy Barley.
  • Handle and resolve customer cases according to Poppy Barley’s values
  • Providing feedback to the management team regarding store processes, operations, product, people and customer experience, bringing new ideas to push for continuous improvement of the business.
  • Partner with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers to lead initiatives in one of three key areas: Business for Good, Operations and Inspiring Connections.
  • Support visual merchandising of store window, displays and new collection launches.

People:
  • Support in training team members to ensure consistency and clarity with procedures, activations and promotions.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members with a focus on continuous development.
  • Support the onboarding of new team members as outlined and organized by the Store Manager.

Operations:
  • Support the execution of weekly and quarterly inventory counts.
  • Unpack inventory, create and accept stock transfers and support online order fulfilment.

About You:
  • An experienced leader in retail, sales, or customer service, with a background in elevated/luxury customer experiences as an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of service excellence in a consumer-facing environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for learning—you embrace experimentation and continuous improvement.
  • You stay informed on retail trends, you’re well-connected, and know how to build community.
  • Passionate about the fashion industry and creating meaningful connections through styling and education.
  • Highly organized self-starter with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Drive applications.
  • Bonus: Post-secondary education or experience working in a fast-growing company.

Other Details:
  • This is a full-time, hourly role, ranging from 32-40 hours.
  • A flexible schedule, including availability for daytime, evenings, and weekends.
  • Holiday blackout period from mid-November to mid-January (exact dates determined annually).
  • Possibility of some travel to support Poppy Barley pop-up shops and events.
  • Ability to lift and unpack inventory boxes (up to 40 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
