Position OverviewCDEV is hiring a Senior Analyst, FP&A and Risk to join its nimble team of highly experienced professionals. The Senior Analyst will report to the Director, FP&A and Risk (Director, FP&A) and will play a pivotal role in supporting CDEV’s financial planning, analytics, management reporting, KPI development, modernization initiatives, and risk management functions. This role will contribute to the development of financial models, strategic analysis, KPI’s, and reporting frameworks that inform high-impact decisions across CDEV’s portfolio of commercial transactions and advisory mandates. - Work closely with the Director, FP&A, assist and coordinate the annual budgeting and forecasting process, consolidating submissions from business units and subsidiaries.
- Prepare multi-year financial plans and support updates to CDEV’s long-range planning model, incorporating key assumptions, macroeconomic indicators, and risk-adjusted projections.
- Perform variance and trend analyses across revenue, expenditures, and capital structures - identify drivers of change, emerging risks, and opportunities for optimization.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports, highlighting performance against plan, budget, and prior periods, with commentary and actionable insights for senior management.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to evaluate alternative funding structures, cost efficiency initiatives, and capital allocation strategies.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on strategic and operational performance outcomes, linking KPIs and financial metrics to organizational goals and government mandates.
- Partner with leadership and business units to enhance forecast accuracy through rolling forecasts, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning.
- Support Board, Audit Committee, and Executive Team reporting, including dashboards, variance commentary, and visualization of key performance and risk indicators.
- Provide input to corporate scorecards, KPI frameworks, and performance tracking tools that assess the financial and strategic impact of initiatives across CDEV and its subsidiaries.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) to improve management insight and decision support.
- Support the identification, quantification, and monitoring of financial risks across CDEV’s managed assets and advisory engagements.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of risk frameworks and controls, including stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Maintain and enhance risk registers, including tracking of mitigation strategies and control effectiveness.
- Perform stress testing, scenario, and sensitivity analyses to evaluate financial exposure under various conditions.
- Collaborate with operating subsidiaries to ensure alignment of risk reporting and governance practices.
- Assist in preparing quarterly risk reports for senior management, the Audit Committee, and the Board of Directors.
- Support the integration of risk metrics into corporate planning, forecasting, and investment evaluations.
Governance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and risk management frameworks.
- Support process automation, data visualization, and system enhancement initiatives to improve reporting efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of financial and risk management procedures and best practices.
- Participate in modernization initiatives such as ERP enhancements, Power BI implementation, data model and governance.
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a discipline related to the position e.g. Finance, Accounting, Business / Finance, or Economics.
- CPA, CFA, or enrolment in a professional designation program.
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, and risk management, ideally within the financial sector.
- Strong financial modelling, Excel, Power BI and data analysis skills.
- Strong understanding of financial statement modeling and ideally strong background in IFRS and/or Public Sector Reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Sage 50, Dynamics 365).
- Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines as well as work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial small team.
