What you'll do:
We are seeking a skilled, safety-focused Industrial Electrician to join the Maintenance team at FGL Sports Distribution Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing industrial electrical systems to ensure equipment reliability, system uptime, and safe, efficient operations within a production and distribution environment. The Industrial Electrician supports departmental and customer operational goals through preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault analysis, and continuous equipment improvement, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
*This position is for our Morning Shift, scheduled from 6:30am – 3:00pm*
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical systems on conveyors, shrink-wrap machines, dock levelers, and related industrial equipment
- Performing preventive and corrective electrical maintenance on material-handling equipment and warehouse automation systems
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing motors, VFDs, sensors, control panels, and power distribution systems
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, and building blueprints
- Applying working knowledge of PLC logic to support troubleshooting and system diagnostics
- Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing powered equipment batteries and charging systems
- Supporting electrical installations, upgrades, and modifications to existing equipment and infrastructure
- Leading and assisting with mechanical conveyor work, including minor restructuring, adjustments, and alignment support
- Completing minor facility-related electrical repairs as required
- Operating and supporting facility equipment, such as balers, in accordance with training and safety procedures
- Supporting other departments and taking on additional operational or departmental responsibilities, as assigned
- Reporting equipment failures, safety concerns, and major repair requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager
- Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with the Alberta Electrical Code, CSA standards, company policies, and safety procedures
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records using Maximo CMMS and other required documentation
- Assisting with the training and mentoring of apprentices and colleagues
- Promoting and maintaining a strong safety-first culture at all times
What you bring:
-> Journeyperson Red Seal Industrial Electrician Certification (recognized in Alberta) preferred. Minimum (2) years of commercial and industrial electrical experience in a production, manufacturing, or distribution environment. Accepting applications from Alberta Provincial Certified Electricians.
-> Applications will also be considered from 4th-year Electrical Apprentices
who demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively in a maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 120/208V and 347/600V
- Hands-on experience with motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial automation equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to work on and around mechanical conveyor systems
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and building blueprints
- Proficiency in electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
- Solid understanding of lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety practices
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety compliance
- Flexible, open-minded, and capable of supporting a multi-functional, cross-departmental work environment
- Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights of up to 40 feet
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
- Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities within a industrial environment
- Strong communication skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Competent in operating powered industrial equipment
- Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and CMMS (Maximo)
- WHMIS and First Aid certification considered an asset
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Proof of certification and relevant work experience will be required.

Our typical hiring range is between $36 and $46.50 for Licensed Electrician. For 4th-year Electrical Apprentices between $28 and $34.75. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements (including applicable certifications, licenses and/or accreditations for example Red Seal).
