Job Description:

Reporting to the Delivery Director within Digital Platform Modernization Value Realization Office (DPM VRO), the position of the Project Manager Specialist will be responsible for managing specific projects and deliveries for infrastructure and service teams within the Sun Life Chief Technology Office (CTO).

In this role, the Project Manager will work closely with Service organization team members, Business and IT leaders within the organization to deliver small to medium-sized projects across the organization.

This is a 13 month fixed term contract role.

What will you do?

• Manages the project lifecycle to deliver small to medium complexity project work across various streams
  • Completes project charters and ensures sign off.
  • Coordinates meetings.
  • Works with BAs and SMEs to update and track project budgets.
  • Prepares detailed project plans.
  • Updates and delivers a range of tracking and project documentation.
  • Takes detailed meeting minutes from meetings to delegate and drive successful resolution.
  • Manages actions, issues and risk management activities across the delivery life cycle.
  • Files project artifacts as required, in the departmental SharePoint site in accordance to Enterprise Operational standards.
  • As required, develops additional project specific presentations, status reports.
• Assists the Delivery Directors and Senior Project Managers on larger initiatives for:
  • Developing project plans that effectively align scope, time, cost, quality, resources, risk, communication and procurement.
  • Tracks, monitors and follows up on appropriate risk management practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assists in developing/updating project specific presentations, status reports.
• Demonstrates a firm dedication to the Project Manager and Delivery Director's goals and objectives relative to the assigned projects.
• Builds and demonstrates a strong understanding of Sun Life Financial project management standards across the project delivery lifecycle.
• Observes and suggests continuous improvements to the planning and portfolio management processes.

What will you need to succeed?

• Previous work experience as a Project Manager, preferably in a large, cross functional organization.
• 2 plus years’ experience in an IT environment; specifically focused on project delivery related to infrastructure
• Strong analytical skills; ability summarize data and requirements into meaningful management reports.
• Experience standardizing business processes.
• Experience working with various collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Planview, Sharepoint)
• University or college degree, or appropriate experience in lieu of
• PMP certification in good standing, or demonstrated path to achievement
• Some project management experience, supporting medium to large technical/business project environments

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
