Benefits:
The Canadian Tire FP&A team plays an important role in helping the business understand performance, anticipate what’s ahead, and make better financial decisions. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop beyond traditional financial reporting and build stronger experience in FP&A, business partnering, forecasting, financial modelling, and operational finance. You’ll gain exposure to the financial drivers behind a complex Supply Chain & Transportation network and have the opportunity to use your analysis to support decisions that impact the broader business.
In this role, you’ll be a key finance partner to our Supply Chain & Transportation teams, working at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy. You’ll go beyond reporting the numbers by helping explain what is driving performance, identifying opportunities, building forecasts and financial models, and turning complex information into insights leaders can act on.
If you enjoy digging into data, understanding the story behind the numbers, and seeing how your analysis can influence real business decisions, this is an opportunity to build meaningful FP&A experience in a large and dynamic retail organization.
What you'll do:
- Support the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process for the SC&T cost centers
- Analyze transportation and logistics costs, including freight, fuel, and carrier expenses, and identify trends and variances
- Turn financial results into a story, delivering monthly reporting and variance analysis with clear commentary on what happened, why it happened, and what it means for the business.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Transportation operations teams to understand cost drivers and support decision-making
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate transportation network costs, route optimization initiatives, and vendor/carrier contracts
- Connect financial and operational performance by monitoring KPIs such as cost per unit shipped, cost relative to volume, and other measures of efficiency.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and business cases to support capital and operational investment decisions
- Support month-end close activities, including accruals and journal entries related to SC&T costs
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in reporting and analysis workflows
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across financial systems and reporting tools
- Support month-end activities, including accruals and journal entries, while helping maintain accurate and consistent financial information across reporting systems.
What you'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or a related finance role
- Working towards or holding a professional accounting/finance designation (CPA, CFA, or equivalent) considered an asset
- Strong Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, advanced formulas); experience with Power BI or similar BI tools is a plus
- Experience with ERP/financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
The target salary range is between $65,000 and $75,000.00 CAD Annual. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
