eTM (Electronic Tutoring and Mentoring) works to connect McGill students enrolled in health professional programs with Indigenous students in high school, CEGEP, as well as those currently attending university or graduate programs and pursuing health professions training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Recruits new TMs (tutors/mentors), including Indigenous TMs. Attends recruitment fairs, writes and posts advertisements,
coordinates with McGill Health Professions training programs to bring in new TMs.
2. Assists in the selection of TMs and organizes background checks.
3. Keeps and manages a directory of TM expertise for tutoring in different domains, as well as the training they have completed.
4. Assists in the training of TMs. Facilitates orientation sessions and coordinates additional training (e.g., on tutoring best practices, Indigenous Health, cultural safety, student advocacy).
5. Attends meetings with IHPP staff (if a medical student in CHAP rotation, also with Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Advisor)
6. Uses word and data processing software. Updates application and orientation documents and online forms. Produces reports, performs data entry and data updates.
7. Performs duties 1-6 with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality.
*Hours per week are anywhere from 5 to 8 hours per week.
OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES:
Applicants must be a student registered at McGill University. In addition, we seek an assistant with the following qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience in science tutoring or working with youth
- Passion, enthusiasm and/or experience working in educational accessibility, health professions education, or Indigenous Health.

Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 on a scale of 0-4.
