Earth and Life Through Time, EPSC 233 (3 credits)

Course description:

Teaches students about the evolution of life and the Earth system, from the origin of the planet to today. This course provides an introduction to the structure and composition of the Earth and the origin and diversity of life. The courses emphasize using stratified rocks and the fossils they contain to interpret Earth and life history, with a focus on North America.

Job Description:

Assessment may be adapted to the instructor’s pedagogical approach, including the design of course assignments, quizzes, and final examination.

Responsibilities include teaching, course management, developing exam materials, contributing to grading, and supervising TA’s. TA support is based on enrolment, forecast at 90 students for Fall 2026.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

We seek an instructor with a PhD in Earth Sciences or other similar field and prior teaching experience at the university level.
