Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:The role provides general administrative support, Thrift Store work and grounds keeper for the day-to-day operations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.

• Respond to telephone, in person or electronic enquiries or forward to appropriate person.
• Photocopy and collate documents for distribution, mailing and filing.
• Assist with administrative procedures within MU or department.
• May draft and prepare presentations (including PowerPoint, invitations, certificates.)
• May sort, process, and verify receipts, expenditures, forms, and other documents.
• Scan, sort and file documents according to established guidelines.
• Assist with other related administrative tasks when required.
• Greet and interact with customers/donors in a positive, friendly and courteous manner.
• Contribute to meeting store sales targets; provide efficient courteous customer service; use tact with dealing with difficult customers.
• Be knowledgeable regarding product pricing and featured sale products; protect the integrity of all donated items.
• Responsible for accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales with minimal voids, overages or shortages.
• Adhere to store policy regarding cheques, credit cards, refunds, voids and holds.
• Process raw materials by loading/unloading, sorting, packing, hanging, pricing and storing donations.
• Assist with Janitorial work at the church and outside lawn care at the church and cemetery.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This job requires the ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching, and reaching; the ability to lift/move 30 lbs and operate cleaning and lawn care equipment.
• The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures in addition to health and safety rules and regulations such as universal precautions i.e. wearing gloves when working with unknown contents.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
• Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.
• Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.

This is for a temporary full time position.

Compensation:

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
